Today I showed my students how to do a hard-ground etch. This is a. the first intaglio I've done in almost two years b. the first zinc plate I've ever done and c. the first etch I've ever done in ferric acid.

It's been a little scary teaching them processes I'm rusty on, since I've been doing nothing but screen for over a year now.

A couple of days ago I got a call from a friend asking me if I had any books I could put in a show at Branigan Cultural Center, as they had a book show opening Friday and not enough entries. I grabbed what I had in the studio, and tonight had the pleasure of seeing my works and others on display.

( In spite of my incredible inability to be decisive about colours, I have finally completed a portfolio for the wedding letterpress stuff, on the principle that it will look a great deal more impressive when I'm not pulling loose invites out of the back of a sketchbook. )

As no doubt most of you have heard, there's a natural disaster in Burma currently reaching epic proportions. Some say the death toll may be over 100,000.
